Hatch will run during school terms and will not run over Easter, Summer, Christmas and Half-Term breaks.

As of January 2016 Tin Shed Theatre Co. will be taking over the management and running of The Riverfront’s Youth Theatre programme.

HATCH is soon to become Tin Shed Theatre Co’s official class for young people who have an interest in drama and want to explore the subject in an exciting, fun and socially enriching way.

Part skills training, part performance making; participants of varying abilities and experiences can come together to play, learn, grow and perform as individuals and as a group.

TERMS

There will be 3 terms a year; 2 focus on skills and training, 1 on making performance culminating in two professional productions at The Riverfront each year.

You will learn breakdance styles, uprock, freezes and power moves.

This class is suitable for ages 7 to 18 years old and is suitable for all abilities from beginners to the more advanced.

Come and join our film club! Every Tuesday we’ll be watching a different movie, having lunch together and then trying a different activity in the afternoon! It could be crafts, dance, sewing, writing, movie making or more!

 

Activities will be posted soon.

 

Lunch will be a cold lunch box consisting of sandwich, crisps and a drink. Orders will be taken on the day of the Film Club.

I Made It! Summer Specials (Ages 8-12) 4 Hours

An Introduction to Using a Sewing Machine

Wednesday 26th July, 10am-2pm

Tickets - £15

Want to learn how to sew? Have a machine and don’t know how to use it? 

This fun session is a great introduction to machine sewing. Youngsters can learn how to thread a machine, create basic stitches and gain the confidence to figure out what probably is happening when a machine goes ‘wrong’. 

The sessionis also about making and putting new found skills into practice so by the endof the activity all kids will also complete a cool summer headscarf or bandana.

Please bring a packed lunch. Boys & girls welcome.

I Made It! Summer Specials (Ages 6-10)

A mini textiles workshop for youngsters. Using lots of fun felt, fabric pens and stuffing we’ll be making our own super cute, summer stuffie. Kids can try a bit of hand sewing as well as gluing to create a colourful character to keep them company throughout the summer holidays.

I Made It! Sessions are designed to be a great introduction to hand sewing for young children, building confidence in cutting, sticking and creating their own works of art.

Parents/carer are encouraged to drop their children off at the start of the workshop and to collect at the finish.

Please supply your youngster with a drink.

Summer sewing is on the cards at this creative workshop. We’ll be developing hand sewing skills to make sunflower stylie brooches. Building up layers of colour and adding ribbons and beads this is a great workshops for creative youngsters.

Once you’ve made one, why not make a few more to match your outfit?

Parents/carer are encouraged to drop their children off to the workshop and to collect at the end of the session.

An Introduction to Using a Sewing Machine

Budding fashion designer? Creative artist?

This is a fantastic activity designed to introduce youngsters to a sewing machine.

Making your own clothes and accessories is hugely rewarding and in this 4 hour workshop, we’ll be learning the basics about sewing machines (which thread goes through which hole etc!) and the stitches it can create. It’s aimed at building up confidence to have a go at tackling our own creative projects.

The sessionis run on a similar basis to the introductory session on the 26th July butis targeted at slightly older youngsters or those with some hand or machine sewing experience.

The sessionis also about making and putting new found skills into practice so by the endof the day everyone will come away with handmade accessories.
