Directed by Anthea Williams

Starring Maeve Marsden and Libby Wood

Equal parts historical and hysterical, lose yourself in the company of sailors, barmaids and bootleggers in this darkly comic cabaret. "Not only vocally sublime but a stroke of comedy genius" Theatre Press, its critically acclaimed stars Maeve Marsden and Libby Wood return to the U.K. after playing to sold out crowds in London, Bristol, Birmingham, Edinburgh and across Australia.

Mother's Ruin is a raucous journey through 18th Century London, a few New York speakeasies, the Australian bush and the jungles of Peru. Discover a little more about your favourite drop, with this mixed up musical history lesson delivered with dry wit and "almost symbiotic harmonies" Adelaide Advertiser.

With music originally performed by Amy Winehouse, Nina Simone, Martha Wainwright, Tom Waits, The Pretenders, Jessie J and more, Mother’s Ruin moves from misery to vaudeville in a moment, intertwining excess and prohibition, history and (re)invention.

"A raucous masterclass" ***** The Wee Review

"Blisteringly entertaining… Not everybody falls in love with gin, but I can’t imagine too many audience members could resist the charms of Mother’s Ruin." **** Daily Review

THE BLUES BAND 2018

Saturday 2 June at 7.30pm

Tickets - £24

The Blues Band: 39 Years and Counting!

Formed in 1979 by five seasoned musicians, The Blues Band are celebrating 39 glorious years as Britain and Europe’s leading exponents of one of the greatest musical traditions of all time.

It began back then with a phonecall by Paul Jones, actor, singer, musician and radio presenter, no stranger to the pop charts throughout the 1960s as front man for the hugely successful Manfred Mann. His fellow Manfred Tom McGuinness shared the same love of the music - he’d started out with Eric Clapton in the Roosters. And they knew the right people to make their idea for a band ‘just to play the blues’ work; they brought in legendary slide guitar man and singer Dave Kelly, who brought along a talented fellow musician, bassist Gary Fletcher. With the addition of Tom’s chart-topping partner from McGuinness Flint, drummer Hughie Flint, (ex-John Mayall’s Blues Breakers), that first line-up stormed the post-punk music scene, and contrary to their expectations, they soon left the pub scene behind for an international career playing the music they loved. After two and a half years, Hughie Flint left due to the pressures of touring. His place was admirably filled by another fine drummer, Rob Townsend, a member of one of Britain’s most eclectic, legendary outfits, Family.

The rest, as the saying goes, is history.

Other blues groups come and go, but it takes something special to achieve the iconic prestige enjoyed by The Blues Band. If you want to know what 38 years of skill and devotion sound like, here’s your chance - if you love the blues, it doesn’t get any better than The Blues Band.

Tickets - £22.50

This rip roaring comedy musical has been wowing audiences with its witty and exhilarating show full of satirical energy, hilarious one liners, laugh out loud silliness and superb musical numbers.

Crooners follows the story of three very British gentlemen who exhume the characteristics of a crooner; suave, self-assured, stylish, as they defend the role of a crooner in our modern world. By the very same nature, it is not always obvious that these characteristics are adopted quite so well by the quintessentially British. Cue a splendiferous injection of British comedy. Tongue firmly in cheek. And an Outrageous injection of Big Band Swing.

Featuring the outstanding and uncompromising live, on stage musicianship of the 9-piece band ‘The Mini Big Band’, these Crooners feature songs from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Matt Monro, Nat King Cole and Bobby Darin. Expect some Lady is a Tramp, Come Fly With Me,L.O.V.E, When You’re Smiling, Fly Me To The Moon, Beyond The Sea, Mac The Knife any many more…

Running Time; 2h20 min (inc interval)

SUN RECORDS: Where Rock'n'Roll Was Born - the Official Sun Records Concert Show

The legendary record label that brought you Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, Rufus Thomas and scores morer ockin' pioneers, comes to life live on stage.

Revisit the blessed recording studio where the distinctive sound we know and love today was crafted from gospel, blues, hill billy, country, boogie and western swing by musical visionary Sam Phillips.

His trailblazing Memphis studio brought us That's Alright Mama, Great Balls of Fire, I Walk the Line, Whole Lotta Shakin', Bear Cat, Blue Suede Shoes, Good Rockin’ Tonight. . . hundreds of hits that would influence the world of music for generations to come.

Sam Phillips was a patient, honest man and a perpetual optimist. In 1954 he combined a modest 19-year-old Elvis Presley with musicians Scotty Moore, Bill Black and then DJ Fontana to create music that infused country and r'n'b.

It transcended musical and racial barriers. The ‘Sun Sound’ was born.

Rehearsed in an exact replica of the Sun Studios, featuring the musical instruments of the era, starring a multi-talented cast of singers and a supporting cast of amazing musicians, the sound of Sun is brought to life live on stage in the official concert show that takes you back to the birth place ofrock'n'roll.
