A Part of Discover Dance 2015
Critics’ Circle Award winning, Ballet Cymru present an extraordinary triple bill of new work featuring some of Wales’s most outstanding artists. Featuring Cerys Matthews performing TIR live, Catrin Finch’s outstanding debut composition for harp and orchestra, and a brand new work from one of the UK’s most renowned choreographers, Marc Brew.
Following the sell-out success of previous performances, Ballet Cymru team up once more with singer and national celebrity, Cerys Matthews to reprise this iconic work. Cerys’ album of Welsh Folk Music is the inspiration for ‘TIR’, and choreographers Darius James and Amy Doughty have used 11 of the songs from the album to create a unique work especially for the dancers of Ballet Cymru. Cerys will be performing the songs live on stage with the company.
Ballet Cymru have teamed up with renowned harpist and Wales-based composer, Catrin Finch to produce a stunning new work based on Catrin’s first composition, ‘Celtic Concerto’. Catrin Finch is the most accomplished harpist in the UK and is the former Royal Harpist to H.R.H. Prince Charles.
Catrin Finch will not be appearing live.
Ballet Cymru present a newly commissioned work from one of the UK’s most renowned choreographers, Marc Brew. Marc is an award-winning Australian performer, artistic director, choreographer and teacher. Since 2001 he has been dedicating time to his own choreography with Marc Brew Company, producing work to critical acclaim, including the ground-breaking choreographic work for the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.
