Cinema is back at The Riverfront.
A wry, funny and poignant cross-cultural satire telling the tale oflives in transit, Ben Sharrock's BAFTA-nominated Limbo sets its scene on a fictional remote Scottish island. Omar (rising star Amir El-Masry), a young Syrian musician, is thousands of miles away from home, nervously awaiting the results of his asylum claim and stuck between the life he left behind and his new one which remains frustratingly out of reach. But while he's here, he isn’t alone: he and his new flatmates attend outrageously misjudged ‘cultural awareness’ classes, binge Friends boxsets, and debate attending the local open mic night, all the while waiting for the letters that will ultimately determine their future.
We are really looking forward to welcoming our audiences back to The Riverfront. Our cinema seats are being replaced with lovely new ones in November, in the meantime we will be screening films using reduced audience capacity and a mixture of freestanding chairs and sofas.
Our café will be open and you can take your hot or cold drinks and snacks into the screening.
