Running time: 141 minutes

Director – Agnieszka Holland

Gaining fame for being the first foreign journalist to fly with Hitler, Welsh journalist Gareth Jones is looking for his next big story. Intrigued by how Stalin is funding the rapid modernisation of the Soviet Union, he soon discovers that all of Ukraine’s grain production is being sold abroad and innocent people are starving to death. Jones publishes an article revealing the horrors he witnessed while investigating the story, but the starvation is denied by Western journalists reporting from Moscow, all under pressure from the Kremlin.
