Playhouse is a partnership project managed between Theatre Royal Plymouth, York Theatre Royal, Birmingham Rep, Theatr Iolo, Polka and Bristol Old Vic. Each year the partnership commissions new plays designed to engage with children as performers and their teachers as directors. In each of the participating areas, local schools come together to perform each play as part of the Playhouse Festival.

Adapted especially for young performers, this musical includes favourite Alan Menken songs such as “Friend Like Me,” “A Whole New World,” and “Prince Ali,” as well as wonderful new songs added for the Broadway production. A comedy-circus show from Australia, Chores is the story of a brother and sister who have to clean up their messy room so they canride their bicycles. A storyline we can all relate to, this show is jam-packed full of cool stunts, acrobatic flips, roller skates, juggling and the infamous toilet paper guns!
The physical comedy is suitable for diverse audiences as it requires little language and speaks to young and old alike. Inspired by Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, this is a show that’s made for children, but there is plenty of hilarity to amuse parents and families too!

'Newport's favourite' Richard Elis is back as Much the Millar's son, who is desperate to be one of the Merry Men and Geraint Rhys Edwards returns as Robin Hood.

The 5.30pm performance on Saturday 31 December will be a relaxed show, the 7pm show on Friday 16 December will be audio described for blind audience members and those with low vision, the show will also be British Sign Language interpreted from the stage.
The show will include theatrical sound and visual effects that may include haze and strobe.
